Dutch Media Uitgevers acquires The House of Books
In July 2013 The House of Books has been acquired by Dutch Media Uitgevers. The two companies combined create one of the larger book publishing companies in the Netherlands. The acquisition illustrates the confidence Dutch Media has in the future of the written book. Dutch Media plans to build a large and widely oriented publishing company which is active in nearly all genres. Dutch Media Uitgevers / The House of Books will develop new initiatives in the field of (digital) reading and will expand its publishing business in the fields of fiction, non-fiction, and children books to become a relevant player in all these genres. The House of Books is an internationally oriented publishing company which successfully publishes books within the afore mentioned genres. Well known authors of The House of Books are, amongst others, Sophie Kinsella, Tess Gerritsen, Clive Cussler, Marianne Busser and Ron Schröder. Earlier this year, The House of Books-author Michael Berg has won De Gouden Strop, a price for the most exciting Dutch book. Dutch Media publishes fiction and non-fiction books for adults and children from four imprints: Lebowski, Mistral, Moon, and Carrera. Well known authors of Dutch Media are, amongst others, Carry Slee, Susan Smit, Daphne Deckers, Heleen van Royen, and Arnon Grunberg. This year, one of the bestsellers of Dutch Media is Stoner by John Williams.
