Main Software 50 (2015 edition) – software companies have continued to show a strong and profitable growth: 50% of the participants is growing over 20% annually. Yesterday the successful award show of the Main software 50 took place at the Harbourclub Amsterdam. The number of participants increased with more than 21% compared to last year. As in previous editions, software companies competed for the award of most successful software company in the Netherlands. The host of the event was René de Monchy (BNR Newsradio) and our keynote speaker was Peter Jacobs (CIO of ING Netherlands). Winnaars 2015 For the fourth year in a row, software investor Main Capital and branch organization Netherlands ICT worked together to increase the visibility of the Dutch software sector, as a driver of growth and innovation. The interest from the media, business world and investors for the event gets bigger every year. Important factors in the composition of the list are revenue size, sales growth, level of recurring revenues, sales through partners, degree of internationalization and profitability. Independent research firm Dialogic acts as the audit partner of the Main Software 50. Voiceworks, active in Voice-over-IP (VoIP) technology, has won the award for most successful software company this year. VoiceWorks scores very high on key criteria such as overall revenue growth and realization of cloud sales. Moreover, the company has successfully established a partner/reseller channel, enabling a scalable expansion of the business. The second prize goes to Fortes, software specialist in performance and project management solutions. Mavim, provider of business process management software, ended third. The Cloud Champion Award went to SpamExperts, a leading provider of anti-spam and security solutions. Of all participants, they managed to generate the highest percentage of cloud sales. FRISS, active in risk solutions for the financial sector, received the award for Highest Growth. The company achieved the highest absolute sales growth this year. Besides the various software industry events that we organize, Main Capital is an active investor in Dutch and German software companies and facilitates entrepreneurs with ambitions in the strategic development of their businesses. The full list can be found at www.main50.nl Revenue growth: total sales of the top 50 companies summed up to € 551m (2014 figures), which is an increase of 13% compared to 2013. Of the participants, 50% of the company grew with over 20% annually. The median revenue growth was 21%. The growth forecast is strong: 64% of all participating companies expect to grow with more than 20% in the next two years! International success: this year the percentage of international sales again increases to on average 25% of total revenue. Dutch software companies are increasingly more capable to sell their software abroad. Therewithal, 24% of the companies even gets more than 50% of their total sales from abroad! Partner Channel: having a partner strategy will result in additional growth. Companies that generate between 10-50% of their sales through their partner channel, grow by 23% in total revenues. The percentage of partner turnover remains relatively constant at 14% of the total turnover. Profitability: software companies succeed in growing while maintaining profitable! 64% of all companies achieved a profit margin of more than 10% and 24% of all companies even realized more than 20%. Innovation: software companies invest more in R&D than average. 86% of all respondents will invest more than 10% of their turnover in R&D. Employment: all combined, the Main Software 50 companies employ 4536 FTEs, an increase of 13% compared to last year. Average revenue per FTE is € 122k.
