Lübeck / Stuttgart, 16. February 2021 – MACH AG, the Lübeck based e-government software provider for the public sector, together with software investor Main Capital, announces the 100% acquisition of DATA-PLAN Computer Consulting GmbH, a financial management software specialist for municipalities based in Stuttgart, Germany.

DATA-PLAN was founded in 1991 by Gerhard Bosch and has since developed into a leading provider of financial management software for municipalities, state operated businesses, and other public institutions. With several hundred installations, DATA-PLAN is today one of the fastest growing companies in this sector. With around 50 employees based in Stuttgart and Chemnitz, the company provides proprietary software, consultancy and support services for their customers. The FINANZ+ solution is currently used in 13 federal states. In Baden-Württemberg, DATA-PLAN is the market leader in the area of autonomous financial software.

The cooperation between the two companies is highly complementary both from a product and customer perspective. DATA-PLAN’s core solution is the modular FINANZ+ platform, which is specialized for the use in municipalities. With its budgeting, controlling, cost accounting, credit management, dunning, enforcement and billing functionalities, as well as e-signing and archiving, it is a strategically valuable addition to the MACH ERP solution. The merger enables MACH to significantly strengthen its offering at the municipal level and provide customers, among others, with a comprehensive solution for financial and HR management as well as payroll accounting.

About 90 municipal institutions and cultural enterprises in Germany currently rely on MACH software. DATA-PLAN has over 240 clients in the public sector. While DATA-PLAN has a particularly strong presence in southern Germany, MACH mainly covers the northern and western part of Germany. The merger of the two companies strengthens their position in the municipal market with ample potential to jointly tap into further federal states. Together with its 450 employees, the new group has an impressive footprint on all levels of the German government market (federal, state and municipalities).

Rolf Sahre, CEO of MACH AG, explains the reasoning of the merger: “We are very pleased to add the DATA-PLAN team with its excellent reputation to our group. DATA-PLAN has developed into an important player in the German e-government market at the municipal level and beyond, and is now one of the most sought-after software providers in this field. We have been in contact with DATA-PLAN for several years and are happy that we are now joining forces. The merger opens new opportunities for both companies to jointly grow in the municipal field and beyond.”

Gerhard Bosch, CEO of DATA-PLAN, adds: “ The prospects offered by the merger of MACH and DATA-PLAN could not be better: MACH is an e-government specialist that has been established for more than 35 years, supporting public administrations in digitizing their processes with their own ERP software and consultancy services. This ensures that DATA-PLAN will continue to be successful in the market together with MACH AG for decades to come. For our employees and long-standing customers, this provides the security that FINANZ+ will continue to exist and will be further developed in the long-term.”

Sven van Berge Henegouwen (Partner Main Capital DACH): “We are impressed by how strongly the team around Mr. Bosch has positioned the company in the market for municipal software. DATA-PLAN’s modular FINANZ+ solution is precisely tailored to the needs of the municipal market and delivers, in combination with MACH, a comprehensive one-stop-shop solution for finance and personnel management as well as payroll accounting. We look forward to working with the DATA-PLAN team to support the company’s next growth phase.”
