Main Capital Partners today announces that ORIBI Groep, active in the Identity & Access Management (“IAM”) market, has acquired ID verification specialist JanusID. JanusID marks ORIBI’s second add-on acquisition. The IAM expert from Oisterwijk has been supported by software investor Main in an active buy-and-build strategy since 2021. Earlier this year, it strengthened its position by acquiring authorisation management specialist SmartAIM.
JanusID is a software company that provides solutions for digital identity verification. The company supports processes for Know Your Customer (“KYC”) and Know Your Employee (“KYE”) by remotely verifying identities of customers and employees. By using modern technologies, JanusID’s solutions enable users to safely automate manual and often error-prone processes and to easily position them within existing business processes of clients.
Increasing importance of (remote) identity verification
ORIBI’s investment in JanusID highlights the growing importance of ID verification and data protection. Ivo van Deudekom, Senior Investment Manager at Main, commented: “The identity verification market is expected to grow by 30 – 40% annually in the coming years. Identity verification plays an important role within an increasing number of digital processes. We see its importance in both KYC and KYE – in short, knowing with whom you are doing business and who you are hiring – increase rapidly.” Main is strongly positioned in the security software market through previous acquisitions of Pointsharp in Sweden, Sivis in Germany and NFC specialist ReadID in the Netherlands.
In collaboration with ORIBI’s existing management team, Main is exploring various growth opportunities, both in adjacent markets as well as within the segments in which the company is already active. With JanusID’s solutions, the combined company will further strengthen its current position in the ID verification market and increase its expertise in especially the mobile segment.
Henk de Kort, CEO at ORIBI said: “We are looking forward to working with JanusID. This combination will expand our position in the identity verification market, which enables us to provide our customers with a digital application for performing proper identity verification.”
Irwin Oedayrajsingh Varma, Director at JanusID, adds: “Joining forces with Oribi will result in a wider range of high-quality ID services; it will furthermore strengthen the service offering and accelerate accessing new customers. We look forward to the integration with ORIBI for both the further rollout of CheckedID as well as the development of ShowID.” The founders/directors of JanusID will continue to be operationally involved in the combined group.
ORIBI Groep offers modern solutions that enable secure and efficient verification of identities of, for example, visitors, customers and employees as well as the subsequent management of associated authorizations. Headquartered in Oisterwijk, ORIBI has approximately 40 employees who serve over 450 customers. Approximately half of these are municipalities, but ORIBI also serves customers active in automotive, flex work, education, and healthcare.
JanusID, founded in 2016, is a software company with a focus on ID verification.
