Throughout the day, 9 students got to know their mentors, engaged in introductory sessions, and had the chance to network with fellow scholarship recipients. The program not only provides financial support but also offers students valuable mentoring and access to Main’s network through various events during the year.
A day of connection and inspiration
The opening day was filled with interactive sessions, games, and plenty of opportunities for students to learn from each other. “It was a really fun day – great to meet my mentor and other students,” shared Matthijs Meuzelaar, student of the Main Scholarship Program. “The networking during the breaks was useful as well, as it gave me insights into how things work at other schools. It was also nice to hear more about the scholarship and what I can expect to learn.”
Another new student, Robert Devilee also reflected on the positive start: *“It was such a fun and enjoyable day, great to meet everyone. I’m really looking forward to following the program – good atmosphere, nice people with the same interests.”*
Learning from mentors and peers
For many students, the opportunity to learn from mentors with relevant study or career backgrounds stood out. Matthijs explained: “My mentor did the same study as I did, so it was nice to get to know him better. I expect to learn a lot from him about the real world, but also how to find your own direction after your studies.”
Others emphasized how the program could support them beyond their studies. “I expect to find a side job through the program that will help me become more independent, expand my network, and of course have fun with the opportunities I get,” Robert added.
Barbara Polano was particularly inspired by the peer-to-peer learning: “It was a fun day, full of insights and a good start with networking. Just by today’s introductions I already learned more about IT networks from the other students, since I don’t take that subject myself.”
A promising year ahead
The kick-off showed just how much enthusiasm there is among the new group of scholarship recipients. Tom Steenvoorde mentioned the value of practical guidance: “It was a nice and well-organized day with lots of fun interactions. I expect support with my studies and more information on how to start your own company.”
Building the future together
With this year’s program officially launched, the group of scholarship students is set for a year of learning, growth, and connection. By combining academic ambition with mentorship and practical assignments, the Main Scholarship Program helps students explore new opportunities, build lasting networks, and prepare for their professional careers.
Main Capital Partners is proud to host this initiative at its new headquarters, underscoring our commitment to supporting young talent and fostering the next generation of leaders in the software industry.
