Main Capital Partners has opened its French office in Paris, starting operations on 1 February. Main is already close to securing the first platform investment in the country.

New Paris office opens the French market for Main Capital

On 1 February 2025, Main Capital opened its new office in Paris, France. The Paris office will serve as a strategic hub allowing Main to partner up with founders and management teams of leading Enterprise B2B software companies in the French market. Currently, Main is close to securing its first platform investment in France in one of its core product-markets: security software. Earlier in 2024, Main completed its first acquisition in France when it acquired Paris-based MEGA International with its portfolio company Bizzdesign.

The new Paris office underscores Main’s commitment to the French software market and its dedication to fostering strong, long-term relationships with local businesses and investors. Through its knowledge and expertise, Main aims to support leading software companies to accelerate organic growth, increase their international footprint and capitalize on opportunities to acquire complementary businesses through targeted buy-and-build strategies.

Main focuses on building Pan-European B2B enterprise software groups. Expanding to France as one of the leading European economies fits well within this strategy. Main’s cross-border approach to its targeted core product-market strategy will further enhance the strategic expansion into France. The local presence in France will furthermore allow Main’s existing portfolio companies direct access to the French market, accelerating growth by entering the French market organically or through partnering up with French software companies.

The new Paris office started operations on February 1st with a team of four investment professionals with the ambition to grow the team further. Main France will be co-headed by Main CEO Charly Zwemstra and Senior Investment Manager Jonas Kruip, who will be leading Main’s daily operations in France.

We think that France is a natural next step in our strategy. It’s a large market where we see tremendous potential in helping software entrepreneurs with our best practices.

- Charly Zwemstra, Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer at Main Capital

Jonas Kruip, Co-Head France and Senior Investment Manager at Main Capital: “Our focus is on supporting entrepreneurs and management teams of B2B enterprise software companies to accelerate their growth in a profitable and resilient way. We believe that the French market provides many opportunities for building strong software groups. With our specialized approach, our network, over 20 years of experience, and our knowledge of international software markets, we believe we are the right partner for software companies in France. Together with the team, I look forward to supporting software entrepreneurs with strategic growth initiatives, such as internationalization, doing smart add-on acquisitions, defining smart business models, managing migration strategies and/or setting up smart partnership channels. Our local presence in Paris and our local team of investment professionals with a comprehensive understanding of the French market will enable us to support founders and management teams in the best way possible.”

Charly Zwemstra, Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer at Main Capital: “As one of the most active tech investors in Europe, Main continues to grow rapidly. Since its inception, Main has invested in over 175 software companies in Europe and the United States. We have supported software entrepreneurs in growing their businesses both nationally and internationally and are increasingly successful in building Pan-European software groups. With our support, some of our portfolio companies are growing into global players in their respective product markets. We think that France is a natural next step in our strategy. It’s a large market in which many French software companies operate. Overall, we see that there is a high level of software adoption and IT-spend. We see tremendous potential in helping software entrepreneurs with our best practices. Our strategy in France will be similar to how we approached the opening of our offices in the other regions. The strategy will include both new platform investments in France-based software groups and add-on acquisitions for our European and US portfolio companies.”
