In this exclusive interview, we speak with CEO of CarWise, Edwin Fhijnbeen, to unpack how the homegrown software champion continues to innovate, scale, and serve with purpose. From a deeply integrated ERP suite to a culture grounded in reliability and collaboration, CarWise is not only responding to market needs, it’s anticipating them.
Reimagining Mobility: How CarWise Is Shaping the Future of Leasing Software
In a world where mobility is rapidly shifting from ownership to flexible usage, few companies have been as instrumental in enabling that transition as CarWise. For decades, CarWise and its long-standing partner AutoDisk, have quietly powered the backbone of leasing and rental operations in the Benelux. Now, with renewed momentum and support from Main Capital Partners, the company is ready to take its integrated mobility platform to the European stage.
A Platform That Covers It All
CarWise and AutoDisk deliver more than just software they offer what they call a “one-stop solution for your entire mobility proposition.” Their all-in-one ERP suite brings together CRM, contract and offer management, finance, workflow automation, and document handling into one unified system. Seamless integrations with external providers, such as those for fuel cards, maintenance, and fines: round out the offering.
But that’s just the start. “With AutoDisk, we provide a complete digital toolkit,” they explain, “including a driver app, a fleet management portal, and smart configurators that help employees select lease vehicles or bikes based on their mobility budgets.
What sets the platform apart is the simplicity it brings to complexity. “We’re the only provider offering a truly integrated environment where all elements connect seamlessly. That’s how we help our clients work smarter.”
A Culture of Listening and Delivering
CarWise’s strength lies not only in what it builds, but how it builds it. Through close collaboration with clients, user groups, and industry associations like the VNA, the company is constantly adjusting to changing needs. “We don’t believe in custom work,” the leadership notes. “Every improvement we make is rolled out to all users, ensuring stability, scalability, and quality.
This philosophy of “a deal = a deal’ has earned them trust and longevity in a fast-changing market. “Consistency matters. Clients know what to expect, and they know we’ll deliver.”
A Natural Merger, a Strategic Leap
After more than two decades of collaboration, the integration of AutoDisk into CarWise was less a transformation and more a formalization. “We’ve worked as one team for years, celebrating holidays together, sharing offices. Now the structure reflects the reality.”
This move is part of a broader growth plan, with a sharp focus on Germany and Poland. “Our platform is already local-ready,” they explain. “And with large clients expanding into Germany using our software, it gives us a valuable foothold.”
Choosing the Right Partner for Growth
In early 2024, CarWise began looking for a strategic partner to accelerate international expansion. After receiving interest from over 20 parties, they found the right match in Main Capital Partners.
“Main stood out because of the cultural fit and their track record in scaling software businesses across borders.”
Though the collaboration is still in its early days, promising opportunities are already emerging. “We’ve had introductions to other portfolio companies with complementary offerings. There’s clear potential for cross-pollination.”
Technology With Purpose
Rather than chasing buzzwords, CarWise focuses on technology that solves real problems. One recent example is the launch of an AI-powered lease quote agent, which automatically converts dealer quotes into lease proposals, saving clients time and reducing human error.
Looking forward, the company sees major value in expanding its API ecosystem and preparing for trends like mandatory e-invoicing. “Even in markets like the Netherlands, where it’s not yet enforced, our platform is already ready.”
Scaling with Integrity
CarWise has taken a deliberate approach to growth, ensuring that customer satisfaction and product quality remain intact. “We’ve always prioritized service over speed. But with new hires and Main’s support, we’re now in a position to scale while maintaining our standards.”
As the leasing landscape becomes increasingly international and digital, CarWise is proving that consistent execution, customer-first thinking, and smart partnerships can turn a regional leader into a European force.
