Main Capital Partners announces the majority investment in SoftProject, a leading German provider of business process management software.

Acting as a strategic partner, Main is committed to supporting SoftProject in its next growth phase through both organic and inorganic strategic initiatives. This acquisition marks Main's first platform investment with its new fund, MCVIII, and showcases Main's dedication to fostering growth and innovation in the B2B software industry.

Founded in 2000, SoftProject is a pioneer in the field of BPM software in Germany and has established itself as a trusted partner for over 300 companies, including industry leaders like AXA, BMW, and Stadtwerke Norderstedt. The company´s flagship product, the X4 BPMS platform, is a low-code solution that simplifies process modeling, automation, and data integration. This empowers businesses to streamline workflows, eliminate bottlenecks, and achieve significant efficiency gains. The company enjoys a strong positioning within the DACH region, particularly in insurance, Energy & Utilities, as well as industrial sectors.

The founder and CEO, Dirk Detmer, will remain on board, staying significantly invested in the company, and will shape the next growth phase together with Main. Moving forward, Main will actively support SoftProject in maintaining its strong growth momentum by further adding value to the firm’s integration capabilities, extending into even more verticals, and further internationalize the business. Besides organic growth initiatives, strategic add-on acquisitions will be an important pillar of the growth strategy to complement the innovative product portfolio, further broadening the geographical footprint as well as consolidating the market position. The envisaged development is planned to have an immensely positive impact on SoftProject’s customers, as they will benefit from faster go-live processes due to vertical specific solutions and a broader product offering, resulting from strategic acquisitions.

Dirk Detmer, Founder and Managing Director at SoftProject, comments: “Given Main’s impressive track record within the DACH region as well as the BPM sector, I am highly confident that this partnership will assist SoftProject in continuing its envisaged growth path. We see high demand for our services both from SMEs as well as large corporates and will, with the assistance of Main, expand our reach beyond the DACH region into further geographical areas. Through this partnership, we expect to scale faster internationally, further expand our vertical approach aided by Main’s sector and research expertise, and further manifest our position as the holistic enabler of digital transformation for our customers”

Sven van Berge Henegouwen, Managing Partner at Main Capital Partners, concludes: “Having been in close contact with SoftProject for an extended period of time, we are pleased about the partnership and excited to accompany the firm on its upcoming journey. SoftProject is a household name within the BPM software segment and will strongly benefit from its modern software solution, its extraordinary client relationships, and the remarkable employees who make up the team. We are confident that our focused organic growth initiatives coupled with a selective buy-and-build strategy will result in an improved value proposition towards existing and new customers.”
