As a new addition to the team, Adib shares his onboarding experience and how his first weeks have helped him settle into his role. His insights reveal what it's like to contribute to a fast-growing Private Equity firm in Northwestern Europe and North America, while navigating the opportunities and challenges that come with the role.
Background and path to Performance Excellence
Adib’s interest in the financial sector is rooted in his early interest in finance. “I have a background in Finance and Accounting, which has always been a passion of mine,” he shares. His interest in numbers took root in high school, where he first started learning about accounting. This deep-rooted interest led him to pursue a study in Business Administration, followed by a Bachelor’s in Business Economics. His academic journey culminated with two master’s degrees—one in Finance and another in Accounting. “I joined the Performance Excellence team because of my love for working with numbers and translating data into valuable business insights that drive strategic success,” Adib explains. The team provided a perfect platform for him to channel his analytical skills and make a meaningful impact.
Onboarding and team culture
Reflecting on his first few months, Adib describes his onboarding experience as positive. “Although things started off a bit slow, I quickly began receiving more responsibility,” he shares. His colleagues were supportive from the start, and he appreciated their willingness to help. Even before officially joining, Adib had the opportunity to meet the team in a more informal setting at a team event, which made the transition smoother.

Diverse and impactful responsibilities
In his new role, Adib’s key responsibilities are both varied and crucial. He manages the implementation and updating of financial, KPI, and Contract Register templates for newly acquired companies. “These tools are vital for providing insights into performance and the development of recurring revenue,” he notes. Among these tasks, working with the Contract Register template stands out as particularly engaging. “This tool allows for detailed analysis of customers and revenue development, offering crucial insights that help guide strategic decisions.”
His prior roles provided him with valuable skills that are instrumental in his current position. “My proficiency in Excel and conducting data analyses will be highly valuable,” he explains. “I am experienced in cleaning and organizing data to ensure it is accessible and useful for others, which is a critical skill in this role.”
Navigating challenges and planning for success
While his role is rewarding, Adib acknowledges that it comes with its own set of challenges. One of the main difficulties is dealing with inconsistent or low-quality data from the companies. “Many companies lack systems to track key variables necessary for monitoring KPIs or analyzing customer segmentation,” he says. To address this, he works closely with these companies to establish systems that ensure high-quality data collection. Managing priorities is another challenge. “Mismanaging priorities can lead to inefficient use of time,” he notes. To overcome this, Adib relies on open communication with his manager and the deal team, aligning on priorities, and implementing a daily planning routine.
Looking ahead, he aims to make a lasting impact within the team. “I hope to contribute by enhancing certain templates and processes, ultimately supporting the team in achieving our goal of implementing these templates across our portfolio companies.”
