With a market leading position in the Finnish market, VideoVisit will now take its first step in its internationalization journey with the acquisition of Applikator.

VideoVisit, a Finnish company backed by Main Capital, is on a growth journey towards becoming a leading provider of software services for virtual healthcare and digital clinics in Northwestern Europe. With a market leading position in the Finnish market, VideoVisit will now take its first step in its internationalization journey with the acquisition of Applikator.

Founded in 2013 in Vejle, Applikator is a leading Danish telehealth software provider of flexible solutions for secure communication including video, chat and secure messaging as well as digital rehabilitation tools, planning and appointment bookings. The company has a strong presence across multiple public sector verticals, including home care, rehabilitation, hospital care and social care, with clients such as Aarhus Kommune, Viborg Kommune and Roskilde Kommune. Applikator holds a market leading position in Denmark, servicing the majority of municipalities and a growing presence in Norway.

VideoVisit Group, a leading software provider of virtual care

Applikator marks the first acquisition by VideoVisit. The combination will enable the Group to expand geographically and technically, improving its value proposition towards existing clients with a highly complementary product offering. The market dynamics for telehealth and telemedicine solutions is undergoing rapid developments fueled by increasing adoption of technology, rising healthcare expenditure and an aging population demographic. By joining forces, VideoVisit and Applikator are well positioned to tackle these obstacles, both by contributing to the combat against elderly loneliness and by increasing their personal safety.

Andreas Melson, CEO of Applikator, comments: “We are delighted and proud that the merger with VideoVisit has been successful. VideoVisit is a company built on the same core values as Applikator and we are convinced that great synergies will be achieved between the two companies. Becoming part of an ambitious company backed by a strong player such as Main Capital Partners will ensure our continued growth and internationalization.”

Juhana Ojala, CEO of VideoVisit, adds: “Since joining forces with Main Capital Partners in March 2022, we have studied the Nordic market for potential add-on acquisitions that would result in strong synergistic effects. This combination delivers on that, while securing our position as the leading Virtual Care platform in the Nordics, with market leading positions both in the Finnish and Danish home care markets. Our whole team is excited that we can welcome Applikator to become part of our group’s continued international growth journey going forward.”

Wessel Ploegmakers, Partner at Main Capital Partners, concludes: “The combination will strengthen the group’s international position within the Virtual Care market, whilst simultaneously maintaining a local touch in our core markets. As the first combination, Applikator is of strong strategic importance, supporting the growth prospects by both bringing in an interesting product offering for cross-sell, as well as a strong footprint and in-depth knowledge of the Danish market and above all, a dedicated and enthusiastic team. We are looking forward to the collaboration.”
