As a strategic partner, Main will support the company in its next phase of growth through both organic and inorganic initiatives. The acquisition represents the first platform investment Main is undertaking with its new fund, MFII.
windata is a leading provider of payment solutions and enjoys a strong position in the DACH region, especially in the banking sector and among SMEs. More than 6000 national and international companies, including many industry leaders, optimize their financial management processes with windata solutions. Parts of the product portfolio are distributed by banking institutions such as Volksbanken and Raiffeisenbanken as well as Sparkassen, Postbanken and private banks.
The company’s flagship product is “konfipay”. The REST API-based web service simplifies day-to-day work by enabling a direct, closed loop and fully automatable communication between the ERP system and the bank, thereby concentrating all financial management processes on the central business solution in a resource-saving and transparent manner.
The CEO, Michael Rudhart, will remain shareholder and managing director and will shape the next growth phase of windata together with Main. Main will actively support windata in further accelerating its strong growth momentum by bringing new modules and features to the market and further internationalizing the company. In addition to organic growth initiatives, strategic add-on acquisitions will be an important pillar of the growth strategy. This development will serve to further complement the innovative product portfolio, increasingly expand the company’s geographical presence and consolidate its market position. The planned initiatives will have a positive effect on windata’s customers and business partners, as they will benefit from an even more intelligent product portfolio resulting from strategic acquisitions.
Michael Rudhart, Managing Director of windata, comments: “Our customers and partners know that they can rely on us for our innovative and secure solutions as well as our customer-orientated service to automate their processes and thus achieve significant efficiency gains. The regulatory requirements resulting from the EU directive on electronic invoicing, the shortage of skilled labor and the need for automated and international solutions are just some of the reasons why we are currently experiencing such great momentum and demand in the market. We are convinced that our strategic partnership with Main will help us to continue and further accelerate our planned growth trajectory. We are seeing high demand for our services from both SMEs and banks and with Main’s support we will continue to expand our reach both in the DACH region and beyond. It is therefore the right decision to draw on Main’s strategic expertise and market knowledge in collaboration with the Performance Excellence team and the Market Intelligence team to help us realize our growth ambitions.”
Yves Souren, Investment Director at Main Capital Partners, summarizes: “Having known windata and the team for years, we are very excited about the partnership and are enthusiastic about the company’s growth momentum and prospects. With an annual growth of more than 20% in recurring revenues, windata is clearly a winner in the market for financial management solutions. In addition, the company will continue to benefit significantly from regulatory developments such as e-invoicing and Peppol. We are confident that our targeted organic growth initiatives combined with a selective buy-and-build strategy will result in an enhanced product offering for existing and new customers. We look forward to sharing our experience with B2B software companies with Michael and supporting the windata team in their continued success story.”
