Huizen, April 29 2025 – Zig and Xitres, two software providers for the real estate sector in respectively social and commercial housing, are joining forces to build a leader in the Dutch real estate software market. Via this strategic combination, customers in both market segments can benefit from a more complete end-to-end product offering. Main Capital Partners (“Main”) holds a majority stake in both Zig and Xitres and will remain the majority shareholder after the transaction.
Xitres is a Dutch software provider focused on the commercial housing market, offering innovative cloud-based CRM solutions that enable clients to digitally manage the entire customer journey throughout the sales and rental processes while facilitating efficient communication with potential buyers and tenants. Operating from their headquarters in Hengelo with over 35 employees, the company has established a prominent position in the Netherlands, serving major asset and property managers such as Vesteda, MVGM and BPD Woningfonds, as well as property developers such as Van Wonen, AM and Van Wijnen. Following the investment by Main Capital Partners in July 2024, Xitres acquired Hartje Wonen in February 2025, allowing the company to strengthen its new-built product offering and expand internationally towards the Belgian and German real estate markets.
The acquisition of Xitres marks an important milestone in Zig’s commercial housing expansion strategy. The transaction will strengthen Zig with an experienced team, leveraging Xitres’ close to 20 years of expertise and know-how in commercial housing, along with a complementary product that provides substantial added value to customers. Simultaneously, Zig remains firmly committed to serving its historical core market, social housing, through a continued focus on unburdening customers and helping them thrive through smart software solutions. The combination will further stimulate innovation and deliver greater value to its customers across both markets.
Finally, the combined group will be well-equipped to capitalize on internationalization opportunities, following Zig’s acquisition of Germany-based renovation management software vendor Doozer in 2024, which also caters to the commercial housing market.
We look with great confidence towards the future to further fulfill our growth ambitions in the PropTech sector.
Anton Vreugdenhil, CEO of Zig, comments: “We are excited to announce the strategic combination of Zig and Xitres, a move that significantly strengthens Zig’s position in the commercial housing market. This collaboration enables Zig to offer its customers a more comprehensive and integrated product offering, following the launch of our Zig365 proposition earlier this year. This combination marks a natural step in Zig’s strategy to deliver innovative, end-to-end software offerings for the broader real estate industry.”
Martijn Fähnrich, CEO of Xitres, adds: “We are enthusiastic to join forces with Zig and the opportunities that lie ahead. Together, we form a stronger company, capable of supporting customers across all core property and tenancy management processes in commercial housing. By uniting our solutions, expertise, and scale, we are uniquely positioned to accelerate innovation and deliver lasting value to the real estate industry.”
Sjoerd Aarts, Managing Partner at Main and Chairman of Zig’s Supervisory Board, concludes: “The broader PropTech market is a key focus area at Main. The acquisition of Xitres further unlocks the commercial housing market for Zig as well as provides future (international) growth levers. The acquisition marks the fifth strategic acquisition since we partnered with Zig in late 2021. The move strengthens the foundation of the company; therefore, we look with great confidence towards the future to further fulfill our growth ambitions in the PropTech sector.”
