I initiate conversations with companies and collaborate with their founders to shape their visions. Evaluating growth potential in both companies and markets is a major component of my job, along with financial modeling and valuations. I also analyze key value drivers and manage transactions, including due diligence processes and negotiations. Beyond that, I oversee portfolio management, supervise board meetings, and participate in exit management. It’s a lot to juggle, but it keeps the work dynamic and engaging.”

Reflecting on which aspects of her role are most interesting, she shares, “What excites me most is the ability to make a tangible impact. Every decision and action we take moves the needle. I also value the increased responsibility over time and the opportunity to engage with companies from investment to exit. Building strong relationships with management teams and being deeply involved with them is absolutely rewarding.”

Thriving in a Fast-Paced and Dynamic Environment
The dynamic nature of roles at Main does, however, bring its challenges and the fast-paced environment requires strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. “Juggling numerous tasks at the same time can be challenging. There are days when it feels overwhelming, but I’ve learned to pause and tackle things step by step. Staying organized and prioritizing tasks is immensely helpful too.”

Maike further highlights the ambitious yet collaborative culture mentioning: “The team and the activities we do together are fantastic. There’s such a variety of tasks that you never get bored, and there’s as much room for growth as you want to take. The learning curve is steep, but that’s what makes it exciting. Plus, working with many like-minded yet diverse individuals allows me to learn different approaches and perspectives, which is invaluable.”
